As part of her ways in joining the world to celebrate the international girls day, FIFA badge referee, Akintoye Yemisi have put together a program strictly for women citing that it’s a way of giving back to the society through the one day seminar for women referee.
The program which is initiated in bid to understanding football so as to promote better officiating had thirty women in attendance as they were trained and impacted with knowledge on tactical foul, penalty area incidents among many others.
Looking back to the training program when Sports247.ng caught up with her to know why she decided to organize such event, she said, “this is my little way of celebrating girls and joining the world to celebrate that day and that’s why the program was fixed for the month of October.”
“Apart from that, it is good for us to payback into our communities. Community of referees has really impacted greatly in me, from nowhere to somewhere,” she further explained.
“I had my education and everything else with refering in Lagos hence why I used that opportunity to train and impact those girls.”
“My appreciation to everyone who were part of this because it wasn’t me alone, all the facilitators that teamed up and contributed to the success of this event are well thanked, such overwhelming love,” she concluded.
Akintoye Yemisi is a Graduate of University of Lagos who got her FIFA badge as a referee in 2021.
Between when she got badged till date, she has done 4 international matches ( U17 WWCQ, U20 WWCQ ( 2) and WAFCON Qualifying matches).
She has also gone for 2 tournaments ( Women Champion’s league qualifying tournament at Côte D’Ivoire, Abidjan 2021, and Côte D’Ivoire, Yamoussoukro 2022).
