Former Golden Eaglets star, Akinkunmi Amoo, has terminated his three-year contract with Omonia Nicosia, a Cypriot club, citing personal reasons.
The 21-year-old, who was once invited to the Super Eagles, made the decision after playing six matches for the club without scoring any goals.
The uncertainty surrounding Amoo’s future at Omonia Nicosia intensified following the dismissal of Jesper Jansson, the Swedish sports director who brought him to Cyprus.
Jansson had played a pivotal role in Amoo’s career, assisting him after he faced issues in Denmark.
Amoo’s journey in European football began when he was signed by FC Copenhagen, a top Danish club, for a significant fee of Three Million Euros from Swedish club Hammarby.
However, his time at FC Copenhagen was short-lived, and the club agreed to release him for free.
Despite the setbacks, Amoo remains a promising talent with potential for a successful career.
With his contract terminated at Omonia Nicosia, the Nigerian forward now looks to explore new opportunities and continue his quest to make an impact in professional football.
