Nigerian female basketball national team, D’Tigress star, Evelyn Akhator is in a list of star performers nominated for the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup’s most valuable player (MVP) award.
The 23-year-old Besiktas of Turkey new signing will, however, have to contend with 13 other players to get the award, which will be decided by fan votes before the competition ends in Tenerife, Spain.
High ratings came for Akhator, who featured in Nigeria’s five games in Tenerife, totaling 58 points with an average of 14.5 points per game, 10.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists, in helping D’Tigress to an unprecedented quarter-final spot.
Other nominees for the award are Ting Shao (China), Emma Meesseman (Belgium), Breanna Stewart (USA), Liz Cambage (Australia), Sandrine Gruda (France), Astou Ndour (Spain).
Tina Charles (USA), Endene Miyem (France), Brittney Griner (USA), Marta Xargay (Spain), Kim Mestdagh (Belgium), Marine Johannes (France) and Alba Torrens (Spain) complete the list.
