Fusion Football Championship side Ajuwa FA have unveiled their team logo with Spanish side Real Oviedo as they signed their partnership to promote sport’s partnership and youth development.
Former Nigerian International, Binaware Williams Ajuwa, owner of Ajuwa Football Academy revealed to Sport247 how the partnership came about and the major goals of the coming together.
“We sealed the deal three years ago and we went to Spain last week to officially unveil our logo in their stadium and now everyone in Spain knows about us, Ajuwa,” he said.
“Few of our players have been signed there and that’s why one of their officials is here with us today. We’re going to take more players, not just from our team but from other teams because we’re here to help the youth,” Ajuwa added.
Speaking on the motivation behind the partnership, Williams Ajuwa how his humble beginnings were a source of motivation. “I played football and I know how it started growing up in Ajegunle, playing football and not having boots and all, but I’ve had the opportunity, playing in Portugal with Benfica, as well as France and Asia so I’m well-traveled and I know how difficult this was and are and I want to give the youths opportunity to move out of the country as footballers because there are a lot of talents here,” he said.
He went on to commend the Fusion Football Championship as he called it one of the best youth leagues in the country. “The Fusion League is one of the best youth leagues I’ve seen in Nigeria and that’s why we’re here to take the best players out of the country,” Ajuwa stated further.
The Ex-international expressed his joy at playing for the Super Eagles within 2001-2003 earning 7 caps while also having mild regrets at not featuring for the country at a World Cup which he attributed to injuries.
