Rotherham United of England defensive midfielder, Semi Ajayi has dropped from first to fifth in the English Championship’s player rankings, but Stoke City’s Oghenekaro is again missing.
Sports247.ng reports that, while Etebo again gained rave reviews at the weekend, following his superlative form for Stoke against Sheffield Wednesday, pundits have for the umpteenth time left him out the log.
Dramatically, Sheffield’s boss, Steve Bruce admitted his awe for the ex-Warri Wolves, CD Ference of Portugal and Las Palmas of Spain battler, who was one of Nigeria’s best players at last year’s World Cup.
While he continues dazzling with his club in England’s lower division, Etebo is yet to make the power rankings issued by Sky Sports so far this season and is again missing in the latest ratings, alongside equally exciting John Mikel Obi, who is also making waves with Middlesbrough.
While Mikel and Etebo are surprisingly missing from the chart, Leeds United forward, Pablo Hernandez topped the Power Rankings this week, while Ajayi drops to fifth and Dominic Irofa Jnr climbs to eighth.
Ajayi topped the chart before the break but slipped five places after The Millers were thrashed 6-1 at Derby County, while Sheffield Wednesday’s right-back Iorfa edged into the top-10 for the first time this season.
Aston Villa midfielder, John McGinn moves to second, after he got a foot in both goals during a 2-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers, with Villa keeping the fifth spot in the Championship table – one point ahead of Derby, but they have played one game more than The Rams.
League leaders, Norwich City maintained their winning streak away to Mikel’s Middlesbrough with Onel Hernandez (No 7) scoring the decisive goal, while his teammates, Emiliano Buendia (No 3) and Kenny McLean (No 6) also retain their top-10 standings.
West Brom’s Chris Brunt (No 9) assisted Dwight Gayle’s first-half leveller during a 3-2 win over Birmingham City at Hawthorns – the visitors’ first game since going down the table after receiving a nine-point deduction.
Sky Sports’ Power Rankings methodology reflects a player’s performance by awarding points for 34 different stats, but the data is yet to favour either Mikel or Etebo, despite all rave reviews trailing them this term.
