Peace F.C will take on Nigeria National League side, Nnewi United F.C in the men’s final of 2022 edition of the Nero Pharmaceuticals Anambra FA Cup on Saturday, 11th June,2022.
Akwa-based Peace F.C surprisingly defeated defending champions of the tournament and title favourite Aspire F.C of Adazi-Ani 4-3 on penalties after the regulation time ended in a goalless draw, to book their place in this year’s final.
Nigeria League second division two side, Nnewi United had an easy run against All Stars F.C of Ogbaru, scoring three unreplied goals through Samson Oni’s brace (6′, 61′) and Pius Emmanuel’s 90th minute goal in their semifinal game on Tuesday to secure a showdown against Peace F.C in the final.
The two unsuccessful semifinalists Aspire F.C and All Stars F.C will slug it out against each other in a third place match slated for Friday, 10th June 2022 at the Nero Stadium, Nanka.
Meanwhile on Saturday, 11th June 2022 which is also the final day of the tournament , Maureen Madu Kiddies of Onitsha will take on Akwa Angels in the women’s final match by 9:00am at the Neros Stadium, Nanka while the main event is slated for 12pm at the same venue as Peace F.C will slug it against Nnewi United F.C of Nnewi in the men’s final.
There are many things at stake in this year’s final including the winners of the men’s final claiming the bragging right of being the best team in the state, a cash sum of #2,000,000 for winning the trophy and representing Anambra state at the 2022 National Aiteo FA Cup finals later this year.
