Edo Queens FC have crashed out of the ongoing 2022 National Federation Cup competition tagged ‘Aiteo Cup’ by losing 0-2 to FC Robo Queens of Lagos.
FC Robo opened scoring in less than two minutes of the kickoff through a long kick from Falese Omobola, from the midfield to Monday Gift and before Edo Queens goalkeeper Udoka Unachukwu, could realize herself, the Sleeky striker Monday Gift watched the goalkeeper and pushed the ball stylishly to the left side of the goal post beating Edo Queens goalkeeper to it. It was the cheapest goal ever in the history of Edo Queens.
The play resume with Edo Queens fighting hard and making several attempts at the opponent’s goal but the likes of Oladipo Shukurat, and Lawal Taiwo who were in control of FC Robo defense line- up prevented the Benin based Queens from having their way.
FC Robo increased the tally to two goals in 35th minutes of the first half through a pass from the left flank by Falashade to Taiwo that resulted to a goal that separated the two side. The first 45 minutes of the game ended with score line at 2-0 in favour of FC Robo.
Edo Queens came into the second half with confidence, putting pressure on their opponent had almost eight good shots at opponents goal but all efforts made to get a goal didn’t yield any result.
FC Robo girls had a top- quality
Opposition from Edo Queens in the second half of the game.
They were not actually too fantastic, it was just hard on the side of Edo Queens.
It was a painful scenario on Thursday evening for the Godwin Obaseki girls when the referee sounded the whistle
at the end of regulation time. The players stood transfixed unable to understand what happened to them. Most of the players had wished if the time could be extended. Before the game, you can see the oneness in the team, but after the game the few of them who are strong enough to persuade those who were devastated joined in holding themselves in tears. Indeed, football is a cruel game.
In could be recalled that it was the same FC Robo that truncated the dream of Edo Queens playing in the finals of 2021 Aiteo Cup. But nevertheless we will bounce back.
