Barely 72 hours after defeating Junior Katsina United in the Round of 64 of the 2022 Nigeria Football Federation/AITEO CUP competition, Bendel Insurance football club on Tuesday, August 2nd arrived in Ilorin for their round of 32 fixture against Lagos-based side, Otasollo Football Club.
The match is scheduled to hold at the Kwara stadium in Ilorin billed on Wednesday, 3rd July 2022. Kickoff time is 4 PM
Bendel Insurance defeated Junior Katsina United 2-0 courtesy Imade Osarenkhoe and Deputy Echeta’s goals at the FIFA Goal Project pitch, Moshood Abiola Stadium, in Abuja last Saturday to progress to the round of 32 against Otasollo FC who bundled out NPFL side Abia Warriors from the competition.
The victory earned them a banana peel match up against giant killers, Otasollo FC who came from a goal down to beat Abia Warriors 2-1 at the Warri Township Stadium, Delta State.
Bendel Insurance FC will no doubt have to double their efforts when they square up against Otasollo at the Ilorin township stadium on Wednesday to fight for a place in the round of sixteen, the stage they lost to finalists, Nasarawa United last season who is also their potential opponents at the same stage this season.
Coach Monday Odigie while speaking ahead of the match, said his boys know what to do when they step to the field to face Otasollo tomorrow.
” The boys know why they are here and they are set to take on their challengers. We are not seeing our opponents as a small team, they play in the NNL where we played, so we know what to expect from them when we play tomorrow.”
“They are a formidable team, full of young players who are hungry for success, but my boys are hungrier and they want to keep telling people they are ready for the tasks ahead (the NPFL). Above all, we want to do well in the game tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Bendel Insurance Feeders are also on the road to Nnewi, Anambra state to take on Akure City Academy in the same round of 32 games of the 2022 Aiteo Cup. The young Benin Arsenals on Sunday defeated their opponents (Dannaz FC) in the round of 64 of this same competition at the same Ilorin venue last Sunday by a lone goal, but the first team is back at the Ilorin township stadium and will look to get a better result than their last visit to this stadium – a barren draw against Kwara United in the 2018/2019 NPFL season.
