D’Tigress player Aisha Mohammed says Nigeria definitely have a chance against USA ahead of today’s “David and Goliath” quarter final battle at the FIBA Women’s World Cup.
Aisha speaking in a chat with Sports247.ng stressed the importance of unity in D’Tigress team as a key ingredient and hope that fortune favours them against a side that has won six of the last eight World Cups.
“The game against USA is a litmus test for us. We won’t be carried away by the occasion. It’s the biggest game in the history of Nigerian basketball.”
“Pundits don’t really believe we can cause an upset. Like we have done in previous games we will take the match against USA with seriousness,” Aisha Mohammed told Sports247.ng.
“It’s a ” David and Goliath” show. I think we have every possible chance of progressing to the next round but it will require lots of hardwork.
“Unity has taken us to this level in the competition. We all work for ourselves and support each other.”
The veteran player added: “We hope that the odds favour us against USA. They are mighty in the game but we don’t have fear for them.”
