Nigeria’s youth national team, Flying Eagles coach, Paul Aigbogun has labelled next month’s West African Football Union (WAFU) U-20 Cup in Lome, Togo as a developmental competition.
Based on his opinion that the competition is a stepping stone to the African U-20 Cup of Nations in Niger Republic, Aigbogun stressed in a chat with sports247.ng that he will use it to assess his team.
Aigbogun hinted that the mission to Lome might not necessarily be to go and win the competition, as he sees it as the opportunity to try out various ideas before the main competition in Niger Republic.
has stated: “The tournament is still considered as a developmental programme to the main AYC.
“We will still give it the much desired attention but we will not loose sight of the main competition coming up next year in Niger Republic.”
