Veteran basketball coach, Peter Ahmed is charting a course to gold for the female team from Lagos State at the ongoing 19th National Sports Festival in Abuja, as he says he and his players are gunning for gold.
Sports247.ng reports that Ahmedu was standing tall again, after his side beat Adamawa State 67-20, but said his side will not relax.
It has been a smooth sail for Lagos women’s basketball team so far with a 100 per cent record, much to the delight of Amedu.
The first Bank Women Basketball Club of Lagos handler added that their latest victory was well deserved, against an Adamawa side that got 80 per cent of their points through free throws.
He, however, stressed that they cannot afford to get complacent, as every team in the competition is there with a purpose to win gold.
Ahmedu stated: “I won’t write any team off just because we are winning. It is all about discipline and hard work.
“Winning is an attitude and we are taking every game one at a time and our goal is to get to the final and win gold.
“Every team that qualified for this tournament came with a purpose, which is to win.”
