Sensational form for club and country from Ahmed Musa in recent time has left worries running down the spine of Libya’s national team coach, Adel Amrouche.
With the Algerian-born tactician set to line his squad out against Nigeria on October 13, in the first leg of their Africa Cup of Nations double-clash, Amrouche is already apprehensive of what his side will face against Musa.
Musa, who moved to Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia from Leicester City of England this summer, has been in tremendous form since the World Cup, where he scored two fantastic goals against Iceland in Nigeria’s 2-0 win during their second group match.
He continued the top form with a hat-trick in action for Al Nassr and was recently named player of the week, after returning from national team duty, when he captained Nigeria to a 3-0 win away to Seychelles in the AFCON 2019 qualifiers, during which he scored the Super Eagles’ opening goal of the game.
Consequently, Amrouche is now citing Musa as the biggest threat his side will face across two legs in October, as Amrouche is keen on getting a decent result from the first fixture in Nigeria.
Amrouche believes the key to stopping the Eagles is keeping Musa in check, as he admits the attacker’s pace and finishing can ruin The Mediterranean Knights.
Amrouche’s side currently lead Group E with four points from two games, after a confidence-boosting draw against Bafana Bafana at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa.
Before then, Libya had defeated Seychelles 5-1 in their opening group game 14 months ago, and the former Kenya coach says the South Africa draw was a tough game he used to prepare for the Eagles.
Amrouche admitted: “It’s not easy to play Nigeria. I’m thinking of how to stop their fast man up front, Musa; many other dangerous players to also watch in their team, but we’ll give it our best efforts.”
