FIBA Africa zone 3 president, Colonel Sam Ahmedu (rtd) has expressed confidence in the chances of Nigeria’s male basketball national team, D’Tigers doing well in next year’s World Cup in China.
Ahmedu said as much while speaking to sports247.ng opn Monday, during which he revealed that a series of training programmes in place to ensure D’Tigers have adequate preparations for the FIBA Mundial.
He stated further that he believes the presence of some players from USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA) would boost Nigeria’s hope of creating history at the competition.
Ahmedu enthused: “I am sure that Nigeria will be heading into the tournament with a decent squad.
‘”We have already lined up a series of training programmes and other build-up activities that should put the players on their feet.
“The introduction of some good players from the NBA should add more quality to the team, and I am sure they will do well at the World Cup.”
