Kwara United visited the Nassarawa Children’s Home in Kano and showered the children with gifts on Friday.
The gesture is part of the Community Outreach Initiative developed by #AhlanCup2019 Organizing Committee.
Secretary of Kwara United Hamidu Olowo and some members of the management visited the Orphanage Home and were received by staffs of Nassarawa Children’s Home.
They appreciated the staffs of the home for the warm welcome and accommodating them.
Kwara United feel the children should have a place in the society. According to Olowo, regardless of the circumstances surrounding them, the children should be celebrated.
“It’s an act of extending love and friendship to the less privileged in our society. We tried to make them feel loved, and instilled in them that sense of togetherness,” Olowo told Ahlan Cup Media.
“They are part of our society, and we have a responsibility to give them that sense of belonging, because if we don’t, posterity will hold us accountable.
“Nassarawa Children’s Home was founded in 1957 by an American Lady Juliet. She started with four kids,” Administrator of the home Hajia Lauriya Sagir Garba recalled.
“Kano State Government takes care of accommodation, feeding, education and so on. Individuals and philantropists also help assist the home.
“There are five categories of children here; abandoned babies, lost and found, accident victims, children from court convicted mothers and children from ill mothers (Psychiatric Patients).
“On behalf of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Development, the children and staff of Nassarawa Children’s Home we appreciate your kind gesture.
The programme featured presentation of food items and other valuables.
