The outgoing Chairman of Lagos State Football Association LSFA, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi thanked God for the achievements the body recorded in the last 12 years he has been in office.
Akinwunmi declared this at the Annual General meeting of the Lagos State Football Association held on Tuesday afternoon.
In his welcome speech, the former vice president of Nigeria Football Federation NFF commended the board members of the state football ruling body for their job well done saying that the Lagos has contributed immensely to the national teams.
“The state has achieved a lot in terms of the number of players in the national teams.Our players from state are currently playing in the Super Falcons and Super Eagles.Aside this, some of our coaches are in the national teams so the state has achieved in numbers of our coaches and players in the national teams,”he said.
Akinwunmi said the Lagos has not only achieved in producing players for the national teams but also recorded huge success in hosting international assignments.
“Aside from having players and coaches in various national teams, we also successfully hosted international assignments such as Aisha Buhari Cup, Super Eagles Nations Cup qualifiers and some national assignments.Also when we talk about grassroots football development in Nigeria,Lagos is a leading state and i am not surprised the numbers of clubs in NNL and NLO
“This is to tell you that our football development is progressing and I thank the chairmen football divisions for their contribution to the grassroots football development in the state,”he said.
Akinwunmi, while addressing the congress stated that he was not interested to contest for the chairmanship position but urged the candidates who are vying for one position or the other not to see the election as a do or die affairs.
