Roberto Calenda, the agent of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, has issued a warning that he may take legal action against the club following a video mocking his client, which was briefly posted on Napoli’s official TikTok account.
Calenda expressed his displeasure in a statement, stating that the video had caused “very serious damage to the player.” He further declared, “We reserve the right to take legal action and any other useful initiative to protect Victor.”
The video, which was initially made public but later deleted, drew strong condemnation from Osimhen’s agent. The incident has raised concerns about the treatment of the Nigerian striker and the need for respectful and professional conduct by the club towards its players.
Napoli, who are the reigning champions, currently sit seventh in the Serie A standings. Osimhen recently faced scrutiny after missing a late penalty kick in a goalless draw against Bologna.
Following the substitution of Osimhen towards the end of the game, there were apparent protests from the player, including shouting at coach Rudi Garcia.
However, Garcia downplayed the situation in a subsequent statement.
Napoli has not yet responded to Calenda’s threat of legal action. The club’s handling of the situation will likely come under further scrutiny, especially considering Osimhen’s importance to the team’s performance and the need for a harmonious player-club relationship as they strive to regain their place at the top of Italian football.
Napoli is set to face Udinese at home on Wednesday in their upcoming Serie A fixture.
