The Agbor Coaches and Directors society has announced the start date for the inaugural Agbor Unity Cup tagged ACADUC 2022.
Chairman of the Coaches and Directors Society Adodo Martins revealed this after the meeting held on Saturday 27th August that about 16 teams will take part in the Tournament.
“We want to bring together all the Clubs and Academies in Agbor to be regularly engaged, it’s our way of uniting the community through Sports and hopefully this will help to unearth young talents that are abound in Agbor” Coach Adodo said.
Since 2020, football in Agbor has continued to attract the limelight with many teams springing up and competitions being held. Kg Sports Foundation organized the Ika Youth League in 2020 followed by the Ika Grassroots Football League in 2021. The foundation also has on its calender the KG Sports Foundation Cup which is in its 3 edition and Director of KG Sports Foundation believes that such competition can only benefit the players and clubs to greater heights.
” We have seen a great improvement in football in Agbor, with these tournaments many young talents are being discovered and l only hope that we can attract more philanthropist in Agbor to support these teams and players” Dr Ken Gadaffi, CEO KG Sports Foundation said.
Unveiling the programs, Treasurer of the Coaches and Directors Society Mr George Uzoma Ikem said that the Tournament will start off on 2nd September with a Novelty Match between the Directors and coaches while the official kick off will be from 9th September.
16 teams have been grouped into 4 Groups in the group stage with 2 teams progressing to the quarter finals.
The treasurer however call on sons and daughters of Agbor both at home and abroad to support the Society through donations for the tournament as they look forward to giving our prize money to the winners and honor individual awards.
“We welcome donations from well meaning Agbor sons and daughters, we hope we can be able to give awards ro winning teams and individuals to encourage participations” George Uzoma stated.
