After Boniface, Injury Knocks Out Another Super Eagles Striker

Barely 24 hours after news broke that Victor Boniface is injured, another Super Eagles, Sadiq Umar has been knocked out injury, Sports247 reports.

Bayern Leverkusen confirmed that Victor Boniface will be out of sidelined up to 8 weeks due to muscle injury he picked up during the international break while duty for the Super Eagles.

While Nigerians are still digesting the sad news which rules out Boniface for the rest of the year, Real Sociedad has also confirmed the non availability of Sadiq Umar for this weekend’s LaLiga match due to injury
.

The 27 year Nigeria forward may miss more matches after it was confirmed he sustained hamstring injury in training ahead of his team Copa Dey Rey’s game last Wednesday.

Umar Sadeeq was a surprise inclusion in Augustine Eguavoen team for the last two rounds of matches of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations matches.

He came in as late minute replacement for Victor Boniface in the ill fated Rwanda match which the Super Eagles lost by 2-1.

The lanky forward has been struggling with injuries after he made the switch from Almeria which has hampered his performance and progress in the last 18 months.

However, the duration of this fresh injury lay off period has not been revealed by his club.

Sadiq Umar was a subject of injury controversy after he was released from the Super Eagles camp during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’ivoire due to injury, only for him to feature for his club a few days later.
