The President of Handball Federation of Nigeria, Mr. Sam Ocheho has appealed to the Kwara State Government to sponsor Adorable Angels of Ilorin to the 2021 African Club Championship holding in Algeria in May
Kwara Adorable Angels are Champion of the 2020 Prudent Energy Handball Premier League (Women Category) wherein they showed the best of exciting handball which aided them to win the league even as debutant and will represent the country at the 2021 African Club Winners Championship where the champions of several African handball leagues will converge for hostilities
With that in mind, Ocheho told newsmen on Wednesday that Adorable Angels have chances of becoming exposed and getting better partnerships from potential club sides and sponsors after the championship.
“I am appealing to Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to sponsor Kwara Adorable Angels to the African Handball Club Championship.
These young girls have the potential of great players and some of them can strike deals.” The HFN boss said
Ocheho said he is confident that Adorable Angels will give their opponents good fight at the competition when they clash with the best handball clubs on the continent as they have consistently showed that they can compete with any team irrespective of their history.
“These players started handball early, some of them played for the country’s U19 girls team and did well.
“I am optimistic that they will give their opponents good fight at the championship. They won the league in their first attempt, we cannot write the girls off till they play their first game in the tournament”.
Meanwhile, The HFN president, while praising the the Kwara State’s ministry of Sports for the level of preparedness ahead of the National Under 18/21 Handball Championship which will hold in Ilorin from March 25 – April 2, 202, called for quick renovation of few facilities needed for the championship.
