It was a great day as the hottest Nigeria’s athletics property, Tobi Amusan defended her diamond league title in Zurich, Switzerland.
Technical Director of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Samuel Onikeku hailed the heroic deeds of Tobi Amusan after the world champion successfully defended her diamond league title on Friday beating arch-rival, Kamacho-Quinn with a time of 12.29 seconds to win the 100m hurdles.

Onokekun has emphasized the level of hard work Amusan has put in over the years to become a multiple champion today. The director has revealed also that the athlete’s lifestyle is responsible for the level of victory recorded today.
“Tobi Amusan is a discipline athletes. Her discipline and dedication has been consistent for years. If you get close to Tobi and you see how she prepares for her competitions, her focus and dedication, down to how she eats and rest, you will know she is very disciplined. For result to come like this, it shows that hardwork is paying off for tobi. We are so happy that she is performing, she has beaten Camacho-Quinn again’.
Tobi Amusan destroyed the 22-year-old diamond league records of Gail Devers as she defended the title with a winning time of 12.29 seconds.
She came ahead of American, Tai Jones who finished in second place, Jamaican Britany Anderson in third position while Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico in forth position.
The Diamond League is one of four major championship Amusan won in 2022 after she was successful in the African Championship, World Championship and the Common Wealth Games.
