IK Start of Norway midfielder, Afeez Aremu is bound to get a second spell in the Nigerian youth national team, Flying Eagles, as his name is included in the list of foreign-based players or the squad.
Sports247.ng gathered that Flying Eagles’ coach, Paul Aigbogun is counting on Aremu’s experience, alongside other overseas-based players, as the former Akwa United of Uyo dazzler is still within the under-20 age bracket.
Consequently, Aremu is billed to lead the influx of foreign-based players into Aigbogun’s squad, along with equally experienced lads like Watford’s Jayden Bennet and Peter Eneji from AS Trencin of Slovakia.
Aremu played for the Flying Eagles in their final qualifiers for the African U-20 Cup of Nations against Mauritania, while Eneji was also a regular in the squad before travelling abroad in June 2018.
Also in Aigbogun’s plans are Seattle Sounders of USA left back, Ibrahim Usman, Rosenborg of Norway defender, Igho Ogbu, Pascal Durugbor of Vaxjo United of Sweden and Ahmad Gero, the younger brother to former Flying Eagles striker, Alhaji Gero.
The younger Gero now plays for Jonkoping Sodra of Sweden, where he has played 17 matches and got a goal for the second division side.
In all, Aigbogun has called up four goalkeepers, nine defenders, seven midfielders and ten forwards for camping, which us set to commence on Monday.
