“It shows that African football is growing, growing rapidly. I didn’t expect it. I didn’t expect the result I was hearing and I’m seeing. And the competition is on. Let’s see how it goes.” Chukwu said.
The former coach points out surprises in the tournament, citing examples like Nigeria’s match against Equatorial Guinea and Egypt’s encounter with Mozambique.
He underscores the essence of AFCON, where unexpected outcomes and competitive matches contribute to the excitement of football.
“Like Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, I thought Nigeria would humiliate them. It didn’t work. Like Egypt and Mozambique, we thought Egypt would humiliate them, it didn’t work. Like other countries, you know, surprises are coming. And that is what football is all about and that is what AFCON is all about.”
Chukwu’s remarks reflect the dynamic and evolving nature of African football, showcasing the unpredictability and competitiveness of the AFCON tournament.
