AFCONQ 2025: Nigeria Referee Ogabor, Others Get CAF Appointment

Nigeria referee, Joseph Ogabor will be busy as the center referee in the first leg of the double 2025 Africa Cup Of Nation Qualifier, ( 2025 AFCONQ) between Tunisia and Comoros on Friday, October 11, 2024 in Tunis, Sports 247 reports.

The seasoned referee from the Cross River State Council and a lecturer of the University of Calabar, Joseph Ogabor, will be joined by
Adamawa council based Samuel Pwadutakam and Abdulmajeed Usman Olaide of Oyo council as Assistant Referees 1 and 2 respectively to establish the law and order in the game.

According to the Nigeria Whistlers, another referee enjoys CAF and FIFA attention in appointment, Basheer Salisu of the Kano State Council is the fourth official, all FIFA badged.

The match will be played at the Tunis Stade De Olympic while Fatou Gaye of Senegal will be the referee assessor for the match.

The 2025 AFCON will take place in Morocco next with the Matchday 3 of the qualifiers start from Thursday October 10 to October 12, 2024.

Forty Eight teams are divided into 12 groups battling it out in a series of exciting encounters.

A total of 24 matches are scheduled as teams strive to secure their spots in Africa’s premier football tournament as only the top two teams in their respective groups will book their ticket in the finals as 24 teams will participate in the 35th edition of Africa’s biggest sporting spectacle, set to take place between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.
