Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida, has expressed optimism and satisfaction with the performance of the current Super Eagles team at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.
Despite a slow start, Babangida noted significant improvements in the players’ performances in recent games.
In a recent statement, Babangida commended the coaching staff for making effective player selections, placing them in positions where they can thrive.
He emphasized the importance of players growing and evolving throughout a tournament, especially in high-stakes competitions like the AFCON and World Cup.
Babangida recognized the team’s growth and improvement, citing the players’ enhanced performances in recent matches.
He highlighted the need for a dynamic midfielder to complement the team’s playing style, emphasizing the importance of effective passes and ball distribution.
Praising individual players, including Moses as a versatile and skilled player, Osimhen’s fighting spirit and hunger for success, and Lookman’s goal-scoring prowess demonstrated both in Europe and with the Super Eagles, Babangida expressed confidence in the team’s attack.
He believes that with the current attacking lineup, the Super Eagles possess a formidable offensive capability.
In his statement, Babangida said, “The team I’m seeing now, they have a good selection of players. I believe they put the players in the right positions and the players are growing from the competition because if you want to be a champion, you have to grow in every game you play, mostly in a competition like World Cup or African Nation Cup.”
The former Super Eagles winger’s positive assessment reflects growing confidence in the team’s capabilities as they progress in the AFCON, with an emphasis on player development and tactical effectiveness.
