Former Super Eagles defender, Sam Sodje, has lauded Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro for the team’s impressive performance in the victory over Cameroon.
Sodje emphasized the steady growth exhibited by the team in each game, expressing confidence in Nigeria’s bright chances as they advance to the quarterfinals against Angola.
In a recent statement, Sodje commended the tactical brilliance of Coach Peseiro, highlighting the commendable desire and attitude of the players during the match against Cameroon.
While celebrating the team’s success, he also urged caution and seriousness in approaching the upcoming quarterfinal clash against Angola.
“I am still celebrating. I think we had a very good game. I think we’ve not played that well for a very long time. We have to give it to the manager. I think he got his tactics spot-on.”
“I had a great time watching the game. You know; we don’t just criticize like I always say. You’re only as good as your last game, and then as a manager, you get judged by performance and results.”
“So we’ve got no reason to regret criticizing the manager. But at the same time, we have to give him the credit for getting the team the way he did.”
“Talking about the team defence, it is incredible how they held the line, how they wanted to play and how they wanted to defend as well.”
“And you can see the captain, Ekong, how much he loved defending and just the attitude of the players. You can see the intent of them going to that game to beat the Cameroonians, and that was what I was impressed with.”
Sodje’s insights reflect the positive transformation of the Super Eagles under Coach Peseiro’s guidance and the need for a focused and serious approach in the upcoming crucial matches.
