Former Nigerian international and 2013 AFCON winner, Juwon Oshaniwa, has lauded the efforts of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the ongoing AFCON tournament.
While praising the players and technical crew for their performance thus far, Oshaniwa emphasized the need for continued dedication and focus in the upcoming matches.
Speaking about the team’s next challenge against Angola, Oshaniwa cautioned against underestimating the Palancas Negras, highlighting the unpredictable nature of this year’s AFCON, where underrated teams have sprung surprises.
“It’s important for the Super Eagles to take every game one at a time. Our next opponent is Angola, and let’s be realistic—there are no pushovers in the world of football,” Oshaniwa stated.
He stressed the significance of addressing any mistakes from the previous game, making corrections, and building on the positive aspects of their performance.
Oshaniwa expressed confidence in the team’s abilities but urged them to remain vigilant and avoid complacency. “Let everything tell on the field, and so far, the team is full of confidence.
It is good, but whatever needs to be put in place, corrections on the little mistakes in the last game should be fixed. Add more to the good things done in the round of 16 games, and I believe we should be able to come out flying and victorious at the end of the 90 minutes come the day.”
As the Super Eagles gear up for the quarterfinal clash against Angola, Oshaniwa’s insights underscore the importance of maintaining a focused and disciplined approach in the pursuit of AFCON success.
