Former Super Eagles international, Edema Fuludu, has expressed scepticism about Nigeria’s chances of winning the AFCON.
Fuludu believes that luck might be a crucial factor for the Super Eagles to secure victory, citing concerns about the team’s performance compared to favourites like Morocco and Senegal.

In a recent statement, Fuludu questioned whether the Super Eagles, in their current form, could emerge victorious in the tournament.
While expressing his desire for Nigeria to win the AFCON, he highlighted the team’s apparent struggle to play cohesively, contrasting it with the more fluid performances of other top contenders.
“Nigerians want us to win AFCON, but is it possible? I want us to win AFCON, but is it possible the way we are playing? We will just be troubling our heads, one game after the other.
It’s not easy under the hot conditions they are playing, but we’re not playing like a team. If you watch Senegal play, watch Morocco play, you will see teams that are playing connectively.
Nigeria is just experimenting every day. Just pick players and put them. So if we win eventually, good luck to us,” Fuludu explained.
Fuludu’s remarks highlight concerns about the Super Eagles’ overall performance and their ability to compete at the highest level in the tournament.
While acknowledging the challenging conditions, he emphasized the importance of playing as a cohesive unit, especially when compared to teams like Senegal and Morocco, who have demonstrated better synergy on the field.
As the AFCON knockout stages approach, the pressure is mounting on the Super Eagles to address these concerns and prove their capability to contend for the title.
