Reflecting on the team’s performance in the group stage, Samuel acknowledged the abundance of chances created in each game.

He emphasized the collective effort to convert these opportunities, recognizing the learning curve from past matches and the determination to improve in crucial areas.

“Our aim now. It’s just that we know, of course, that we get chances every game with the quality that we have, and I think it’s now about converting these chances. So, yeah, I think overall the game was good, and it’s a learning curve now to see what we can improve to do better.”

Samuel underlined the pressure that comes with knockout matches, emphasizing the win-or-go-home scenario.

Despite the intensity, he conveyed confidence in the Super Eagles, citing the team’s wealth of experience to navigate such high-stakes encounters.

“Against Cameroon, it’s knockouts, there’s no free points. It’s either you win and you’re through or if you lose, you’re out.

So we know that comes with pressure, but I think if you look at our group, we have players with vast experience in this situation that we’re in now. I think we have the players that can thrive in these situations.”

Speaking specifically about the upcoming match against Cameroon, Samuel praised the strength of the Indomitable Lions, acknowledging them as a formidable opponent with skilled players.

However, he shifted focus to the Super Eagles’ strategy, stating that concentrating on their strengths and exploiting Cameroon’s weaknesses would be pivotal for success.

“So I think if you look around the group, everyone’s confident, everyone’s looking forward to the game. Me, myself and Cameroon are a very strong team.

They’ve got good players. But like I said, I think if we focus on ourselves and look at what we can do and how we can hurt them, then I think we have a very good chance of winning the game.”

The Fenerbache player’s words resonate with the team’s collective belief in their ability to overcome challenges and advance further in the tournament. As the Super Eagles prepare for this critical fixture, Samuel’s insights offer a glimpse into the squad’s mindset, emphasizing commitment, self-belief, and strategic planning.

The match against Cameroon is scheduled to take place in Abidjan on Sunday, and football enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating another epic encounter between these traditional African football powerhouses.
