Mutiu Adepoju, former Super Eagles midfielder, has delivered a message of confidence to the current crop of players as they prepare to face Cameroon in the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Adepoju urged the players not to be afraid of any opponent but to focus on proper preparation, emphasizing that the competition is about to become even more exciting.
Speaking about the challenges that often accompany matches against Nigeria, Adepoju encouraged the Super Eagles to approach each game with the right mentality and dedication. He expressed confidence that the team can overcome any obstacle if they execute their game plan effectively.
“We shouldn’t be afraid of them qualifying. Most especially teams that are playing against Nigeria, always come with a different mentality against Nigeria.
So I think that we shouldn’t have problems if we do things right, and the players do their job very well. I believe we should be able to qualify,” said Adepoju.
As the AFCON tournament advances to the knockout stage, Adepoju’s words serve as a reminder for the Super Eagles to embrace the challenges ahead and showcase their skills on the continental stage.
His experience and insights from his playing days add a valuable perspective to the team’s mindset as they aim for success in the tournament.
The Super Eagles, fueled by Adepoju’s encouragement, will be looking to navigate through the knockout phase with determination and the belief that they can emerge victorious in the AFCON 2023 competition.
