Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi expressed confidence in his team’s approach to the ongoing AFCON 2024 knockout stage after their 1-0 victory against Guinea Bissau secured their spot in the next phase.
Ajayi, who has played every minute for the Super Eagles in the tournament, emphasized the team’s goal of taking each game as it comes.
“We want to take it game by game. We will give our all, hopefully play seven games in the tournament. So that’s the target. And now our full purpose goes towards the game on Saturday,” said Ajayi in a post-match press statement.
With their next-round opponents yet to be determined, Ajayi acknowledged the potential challenges but expressed readiness to face any team that comes their way. “Yeah, absolutely.
We’ll wait and see what the results are and who our opponent is, and then once we know who we’re playing, we’ll definitely set a game plan in place, study them, and we’ll do what we need to do to get the win and progress to the next round.”
