With the draw for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers revealed, the Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club, (ANFASSC) has urged the Super Eagles to begin the series on a victorious note.
Three time African Champions, Nigeria were drawn alongside Sierra Leone, Guinea Bissau and either Sao Tome or Mauritius.
Reacting to the draws, the National President of ANFASSC, Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi described the group as difficult, he however noted that the Super Eagles have what it takes to navigate their way through.
The ANFASSC President said “I think it’s a difficult group, we played Sierra Leone a while ago and we know how it ended, Guinea Bissau would not come easy either, but then I believe our boys are capable”.
“It’s an opportunity to qualify for a major tournament after missing out on the World Cup, so the boys are aware of the task ahead”.
“We need to begin well, once we win our first game convincingly, it will give us the needed confidence”
Prince Ogunjimi appealed to stakeholders to throw their weight behind the boys and give them another opportunity to right their wrong.
The Nations Cup qualification series will begin in June 2022, Ivory Coast will host the tournament proper in 2023.
