Super Eagles and Enyimba International goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has refuted claims that their Saturday game against South Africa will be a revenge mission.
Speaking to sports247.ng from their camp base in Asaba, Ezenwa said qualifying for the AFCON 2019 in Cameroon is their primary target and that the tie is worth more than a revenge mission for the team.
Ezenwa is likely to start for the Eagles against the Bafana Bafana at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg with the absence of first choice Francis Uzoho after the 20 year old picked up an injury in a Spanish second division match.
Ezenwa said. “Our main mission is to get all maximum points against South Africa and qualify for the nation’s cup a feat we last achieved in 2013. People keep talking about us wanting revenge; I can tell you that that is far from what is on our mind. All we want is victory.”
South Africa shocked the Eagles in Uyo on the 10th of June 2017 when they defeated Nigeria two nil at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium in the first leg qualifying phase of the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon.
