Former minister of sports, Bala Bawa Ka’oje has urged Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr to start planning his strategies on how to brat South Africa in the next match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
With Nigeria now top of Group E table, and set to play South Africa away on November 17, Ka’oje recalled in a chat with sports247.ng how Bafana Bafana shocked the Eagles in Uyo.
A 2-0 result back in November 2017 marked Rohr’s first defeat in charge of the Nigerian team, the first time South Africa would beat their rivals in a competitive match, and on the Eagles’ home soil for that matter.
Consequently, as Ka’oje says he is happy to see that Nigeria is on the verge of qualifying for the 2019 AFCON to be staged in Cameroon, he expects Rohr to quickly strategize to get victory against South Africa.
Ka’oje said: “I expect the Super Eagles technical crew to have learnt a lesson from the defeat in Uyo in the first leg against Bafana Bafana.
“Ther coach must not continue celebrating the victories over Libya. It is not yet time to relax, we have to start preparing immediately for the next match away to South Africa.”
