Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr took a different approach to team building on Wednesday, as he cancelled a training session that had earlier been scheduled at the stadium, and instead called the player together for talks in the conference hall.
Sports247.ng reports that the Eagles did not do any form of physical activity for the second morning running, since camp opened on Monday, as Rohr rubbished suggestions that he would hold two training sessions at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Wednesday.
It was the first time the team would not make use of morning sessions at the start of camping, as the players equally did not their usual recovery work out in the gym, as they had been known to do the next morning after their arrivals in camp.
However, Rohr was meting the players for the first time in four months and the Franco-German tactician decided to hold a meeting Wednesday morning, to discuss plans for the games against Seychelles and Egypt.
Rohr stated at his first press conference: “It will be an interesting game on Friday, we need to see how they will handle the situation.
”We have already qualified but we want to do well to improve, to be better. There’s no other FIFA window, so it’s very important two games.
”I can make three changes in Friday’s game and six in Tuesday’s game and I will do that to see a lot of players.
”These two games are important for some players to show themselves. We know most of them.
”We are younger from the World Cup because some of the players of the World Cup are not here, we qualified without them.
”It is an opportunity for these young players to show again they deserve to go the AFCON.”
