AFCON 2019: Player quality caused Nigeria’s loss to South Africa in Uyo – Bassey

Akwa United Chairman Paul Bassey says the loss to South Africa in the first leg of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier was as a result of Nigeria not presenting her best legs for that encounter on June 10, 2017.

Bassey, a member of the Nigeria Football Federation technical committee has boosted that this time around the result will be different and he is extremely confident Nigeria can beat South Africa in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Tokelo Ranti took the lead for the South Africans in the 54th minute while Brighton and Hove star, Pacy Tau scored the second goal in the 81th minute to hand the Bafana Bafana their first competitive match against the Super Eagles.

Paul Bassey also added that all the technical crew need to do before the encounter is to re-organized and present the best players for the match which will be played at the 94, 807 capacity FNB stadium in Johannesburg.
