Super Eagles striker, Odion Jude Ighalo is a major doubt ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) following his injury against Tianjin Teda in a Chinese Super League match played on Friday, Sports247 reports.
The former Flying Eagles captain lasted 12 minutes in the game played at Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium turf before being withdrawn for Wu Yizhen due to injury.
Ighalo, who was the highest goalscorer in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with seven goals – is expected to undergo medical test in the coming days to know the extent of the injury.
The former Watford striker absence would be a massive blow for Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr – who is expected to release his provisional list for the biennial competition later this month.
Since making his debut in 2015, the 29-year-old has scored 11 goals for Nigeria in 26 matches.
