Super Eagles Manager, Gernot Rohr has stated that he is happy after going top of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying Group E.
He explained the need for Nigeria to decide their destiny as qualification for the African showpiece gets tougher at the home stretch.
“It was an all round performance from the Super Eagles. The boys fought the battle very well and deservedly won the two matches against Libya.”
“We are on top of the table and need to consolidate further. We are in charge of our destiny and don’t need to depend on results at other centres,” the former Niger Republic gaffer told Sports247.ng.
“We have two more games to play at this crucial stage of the qualifiers. It’s important that we are focused and qualify for Cameroon 2019.”
Rohr was however cautious and stressed that it is not yet over because he intends to ensure the team go for a win next months against South Africa.
The Franco-German acknowledged the challenge from Libya and made reference to South Africa’s inability to beat Seychelles away as indications of how tough all matches have been and how well the Eagles have also worked.
