Shanghai Greenland Shenhua of China striker, Odion Jude Ighalo has declared that he and his colleagues in the Super Eagles will use the spirit they had at last year’s World Cup to overwhelm Seychelles in their last match of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Friday.
Speaking of his expectations from the match at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, sports247.ng can report that Ighalo is excited with the reunion of Nigeria’s national team and believes the united efforts will see pay off.
The ex-Changchun Yatai of China striker, who has also played for Julius Berger FC of Lagos, Prime FC of Osogbo, Lyn Oslo of Norway, Udinese of Italy, Granada of Spain and Watford of England, added that all the Eagles’ players are determined to end the AFCON 2019 qualifiers with victory.
Ighalo also took a look beyond Friday’s match, as he disclosed that all the players are thinking of victory against Egypt, in a friendly match at same venue on Tuesday.
He said the Eagles will play for pride in both matches, as they aim to improve on Nigeria’s FIFA ranking and start their preparation for AFCON 2019 in the brightest manner possible.
Ighalo said: “I have no doubt that we are going to do well. Majority of the players are from the World Cup team in Russia. We have played for long time together and we know ourselves very well.”
