AFCON 2019: Eagles To Fly From Benin City On Thursday

The Super Eagles will on Thursday fly out to Johannesburg, South Africa from Benin City, instead of Asaba, sports247.ng has learnt.

Instead of a chartered flight taking the team out of Asaba, as had been earlier reported, a change to the flight arrangement will see the squad and delegation members leave through Benin City Airport.

In contrast with the initial plan to see the team fly out of Asaba, where they opened camp on Monday for Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Johannesburg, the aircraft will take off in nearby Benin City.

Officials explained that the airport in Benin City has better facilities and a bigger size to ensure more safety and a smooth take off for the Max Air chartered flight, which is expected to have 98 people on board.

The same aircraft will then ferry the delegation back home immediately after the match on Saturday, as the Eagles will quickly return to Asaba to prepare for an international friendly against Uganda billed for Tuesday.
