Super Eagles’ assistant coach, Imama Amapakabo has added his voice to forecasts ahead of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification cracker with South Africa, for which he says the players are all in high spirits and fully focused on the mission at hand.
With the Nigerian squad needing three points to confirm an early ticket to AFCON 2019 in Cameroon and a draw to put them ‘mathematically’ closer, Imama added that the lads are all also optimistic for victory and ready to get the job done.
Imama spoke after the Eagles arrived in Johannesburg at 3am local time on Friday, as they breezed into the South African commercial capital ahead of Saturday’s AFCON cracker against their hosts, Bafana Bafana.
After having a stop over in Luanda, Angola, before the chartered flight flew the team into South Africa, Imama said all the players and crew are comfortable at their lodgings in Capital Apartment in Sandton, Soweto.
Imama added: “We are here for business and to seal the qualification before the last match in Nigeria come next year.
“We are very optimistic and in high spirits for the match. We are confident as a team and we are focused and ready.”
