Lobi Stars defender Duru Ebube has expressed confidence to sports247.ng that the Super Eagles will redeem their image against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Saturday in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Johannesburg.
Ebube who was one of the home based players invited by Eagles technical adviser Gernot Rohr to play against Liberia in an international friendly stated that those invited to prosecute the game are aware of what the majority of the fans are demanding which is nothing but victory over the South Africans on Saturday in front of their home fans.
South Africa defeated Nigeria at home 2-0 in Uyo last year and this time around most football followers in the country expect nothing less than victory against the South Africans in their own back yard.
A win for Nigeria on Saturday will automatically qualify the team for the 2019 edition of the Nations Cup in Cameroon which will for the first time feature 24 teams.
Nigeria will be missing the services of some of its stars including red hot Changchun Yatai striker Odion Ighalo who has scored six goals in his last three games for the national team and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi who will miss the match due to accumulated cautions.
