Babangida, who starred for top clubs like Ajax Amsterdam of Holland during his heyday, added that he is very optimistic the Eagles will excel against other African countries next year.
He added that recent performances show that the Eagles are track and stressed that the team will get better as they days pass before AFCON 2019.
Babangida concluded: “I expect Nigeria to do well at next year’s African Nations Cup, because the players wore big shoes at the World Cup.
“Their inability to go far then was because of some inexperience and mistakes, which have been corrected in their recent matches.
“Now that they have started doing well in recent matches, I believe that the team will not disappoint in next year’s Nations Cup.”
