Former Super Eagles player, Mutiu Adepoju has lauded the Super Eagles for Tuesday night’s 3-2 win over Libya to seal back to back victory over the Mediterranean Knights in the Group E Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
Adepoju speaking to Sports247.ng on the outcome of the game said that the Super Eagles need to ensure they guard against complacency which could have hurt the team after letting slip a 2-0 lead before a late winner from Odion Ighalo catapulted them to victory in Sfax.
“The game was played at an electrifying pace. The Super Eagles prevailed at the end of the proceedings,” the ex Super Eagles recalled in a chat with Sports247.ng.
“I think the boys should be commended for putting in their best to pick the maximum points in the two games.”
“Going forward the team needs to avoid every element of complacency as it clearly showed in their approach in the second leg after going two goals up.”
“Overall they performed to expectation, most especially Odion Ighalo who popped up with the winner in Sfax.”
