Akwa United’s goalkeeper, Adewale Adeyinka has reacted to his inclusion in the provisional list of thirty players invited for Super Eagles’ upcoming friendlies in the United States.
Adeyinka has been impressive for the reigning champions in the ongoing season of the Nigeria Professional Football League with 10 clean sheets in 22 appearances.
Giving his opinion on the call up, Adeyinka expressed excitement to be included in the highly coveted list which also has 7 other NPFL players in it.
“I was very happy when I saw my name included on the list and it serves as a great motivation for me of which gives me encouragement to be become better carrying out my duties. It feels great and I’m glad that I made the list.”
He went further to laud the Nigeria Football Federation for believing in home-based players and for the opportunity to serve the country.
“Goalkeeping is not an easy job although some people think it is easy but I know with confidence in each and every one of the players and the confidence the federation have shown in home-based goalkeepers, I believe we can make a change in the goalkeeping department. I believe if the opportunity comes, we will try to do our best and make the fans happy.”
Adewale will join the Super Eagles team to play the El Tri of Mexico and the Tricolors Ecuador but before then he will lead his club side to face Niger Tornadoes this weekend in the NPFL.
