Nigerian female wrestling ace, Aminat Adeniyi has reflected on her outing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and declared that her inability to shine back then taught her many lessons that will be useful for her in the future.
Sports247.ng learnt that Aminat, a product of the sports development and support programme of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), is already looking ahead to doing better at Tokyo 2020, but says she must take it step-by-step at other competitions before then.
This has formed the crux of her focus on two upcoming competitions in the spate of four weeks, as two time Commonwealth Games champion sets her sight on doing well in Germany and Bulgaria.
Adeniyi declared that she is determined to excel at the Germany Grand Prix in Dormagen, from February 22 to 24 and Dan Kolov-Nikola Petrov Series in Ruse, Bulgaria from February 28 to March 3.
Adeniyi, who is also a four time African women wrestling champion said she is bound to do well at both events, becuase she has trained well and her preparation has been top notch.
She disclosed: “I am improving in my training in order to be better off my last performance in Rio and other world level competitions.
“I trained beyond Nigeria level. I use my last International competitions like the World Championship as a yardstick for my training.”
