Sports247 gathered that the former Charlton Athletic, Everton, Leicester City and Fulham of England winger, who also previously starred for RB Leipzig of Germany, is not only seeking victory against Rwanda this Friday, he is equally eyeing maximum points versus Zimbabwe come Tuesday in Uyo.
Lookman declared, “We are looking to win our next two games. We play football to win and we are working to win on Friday. That’s the mentality for everybody here. From the staff to the players, we all want to win.”
Lookman, who starred for England at youth level and was in The Junior Lions’ squad that won the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup, but switched allegiance to Nigeria in 2020, stressed that beating Rwanda on Friday is imperative for a revival of the Super Eagles’ chances of being part of the first Mundial that will be co-hosted in three countries – Canada, USA and Mexico.
“Victory on Friday is the most important thing and, if we keep that positive thinking, we can achieve it. We’ve been training together, we want to impose our quality and work hard as a team. We should be able to get something positive from that,” Lookman posited.
