Sports247.ng reports that Martins, who was a sensation for both club and country during his heyday, also expressed delight with Lookman’s emergence as Africa’s best player during Monday night’s award ceremony in Marrakech, Morocco.

‘The Weapon of Mass Destruction,’ who made waves in England with Newcastle United and Birmingham City, revealed that he admires Lookman mostly because he sees a lot of himself in the Atalanta of Italy in-form winger.

“He’s one of my favourite strikers,” said Martins, who earlier played for FC Ebedie of Sagamu and started his professional career abroad at AC Reggiana of Italy in the year 2000.

“Every time I watch him play, I think just about myself and the way I used to play.
“He’s like me, but probably better with more technique.

“He knows how to score goals as well, and I think he can do better.

“I’m very happy for him,” Oba, who made his biggest marks with Inter Milan of Italy, submitted.

It would be recalled that Martins, who is now 40 years old, scored on his debut for the Super Eagles at the age of 19 during the Tri Nations Cup in 2004.

He later played for VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, Rubin Kazan of Russia, Levante of Spain, Seattle Sounders of USA as well as Shanghai Shenhua and Wuhan of China.
