Liverpool youngster, Bobby Adekanye has come up against a brick wall in his hope of joining SS Lazio of Italy, as the Serie A side have disowned reports about hooking a deal with him.
Sports247.ng learnt that, in contrast with widespread reports that Adekanye has already sealed a deal with the Rome-based side, Lazio stated Tuesday that they have nothing to do with the player.
The club, which in the past had the Nigerian trio of Stephen Ayodele Makinwa, Seyifunmi Adeleke and Eddy Ogenyi Onazi, stressed that there was no formal contact with Liverpool over a deal for Adekanya.
Liverpool have all along denied any agreement to sell Adekanye to Lazio, and The Reds now appear vindicated it their long held stand over issues involving the Dutch youth international.
Adekanye, who joined Liverpool from Barcelona in 2015, has been linked with Lazio in the last few days, but the Serie A club disclosed in a formal statement that no deal is in place.
Lazio stated: “In reference to the news released by some media, according to which SS Lazio have found an agreement with the player Bobby Adekanye, the club denies this and announces that it has not signed any contract, nor has it started negotiations for the player.”
