Adedayo’s Thunderbolt Seals Historic First NPFL Title for Remo Stars

The 23-year-old central midfielder, who came off the bench in the second half, produced a moment of magic in the 84th minute. With nerves running high and the deadlock still unbroken, Adedayo rifled a fierce shot from outside the 18-yard box, sending it past the helpless Niger Tornadoes goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo and sparking wild celebrations among the Remo Stars faithful.

Adedayo’s goal was particularly historic as it secured Remo Stars’ first-ever league title since the club’s founding.

From the first whistle, Remo Stars showed their intent. Alex Oyowah thought he had given his side an early lead, only for his goal to be ruled out for offside. Nduka Junior, Sikiru Alimi, and Bello Babatunde all had chances but found no luck as the first half ended goalless.

The second half saw Remo Stars increase the pressure, with Oyowah striking the crossbar and forcing several saves. As the minutes ticked away, it seemed frustration would get the better of them. But the introduction of fresh legs, including Adedayo, changed the game’s momentum.

After Haruna Hadi narrowly missed a golden opportunity, Adedayo stepped up, delivering the strike that would etch his name in club history. His goal not only secured a crucial 1-0 victory but also guaranteed Remo Stars the prestigious title, allowing them to celebrate with three matches still left to play.

Adedayo’s performance capped an impressive season, with the dynamic midfielder now tallying six goals and one assist in 30 appearances.

Adedayo’s unforgettable goal will be remembered as the strike that crowned a season of dreams for Remo Stars — and a defining moment in Nigerian football history.
