With the qualification of reigning champions, Balanga United, Golkos United and Kulishin to the round of 16 more teams are intensifying their bid to be among the remaining 13 teams to complete the second round set up at the ongoing 6th Adamu Yola Gombe South Unity Cup.
In some of the results of games played on Saturday, Aston Villa of Kaltungo overpowered D-Professionals 4-2 to kick-start their campaign with a win.
Aston Villa were the favourite going into the game and they deservedly took the lead just two minutes into the game, but their celebration was cut short when D-Professionals equalised just a minute later.
Aston Villa’s Usman Moh’d fired in a low shot to restore their advantage again. But D- Professional took control of the game thereafter and it paid off as John Toro rounded Villa’s keeper to slot in the equalizer before going into the halftime break.
The Professional piled up more pressure on Villa but it was the latter who took the lead once again after making a double substitution. Usman Moh’d scored his second goal of the day after sending in a thunderous shot for Villa’s third goal before he tabbed in a low cross to complete his hat-trick.
In the same centre, Pepsi United humbled Royal Wonder Boys 3-0 after three quickfire goals.
Earlier in Balanga centre, Liverpool of Bambam were forced to a goalless draw by DD Ahmadu FC while the match between Makaman Cham FC and Balanga LGA team was suspended.
Qualifying rounds of Balanga centre will complete today while matches in other centres continues Monday as well.
